Suzie’s Story

Information Video.

This short video explains all about a common disease called ‘Coeliac disease’ (pronounced like See-Lee-Ak disease). In Ireland, one in every one hundred people have coeliac disease. Watch the experience of Susie, a ten year old girl, as the doctor tells her that she has coeliac disease and explains all about it. Among other things, Susie finds out about what foods she is allowed to eat and what foods she has to avoid in order to stay healthy.

This video was created by Elaine Guinan, Ian Coleman and Sarah-Louise Killeen – they’re a group of final year student dietitians at the Dublin Institute of Technology.

A dietitian’s job is to tell people what to eat to maximise their health, whether they’re healthy or sick.
